The Frame - 4 Core Courses
The core courses within the MET program are much like the border pieces of a puzzle. They situate the entire eP in a frame of reference that unites this reflective project. Each course explores aspects of educational technology and in so doing, builds a foundation and focus for the direction of my eP.
As the MET program does not require courses to be taken in any particular order, with the exception of ETEC 590 being the 9th or 10th course and after the prerequisite completion of ETEC 500, the collaged experience of each MET student is unique. The order in which students choose to complete their 10 courses informs their comments, critiques and suggestions to their peers and educational colleagues. Such leeway in course selection and completion allows for diverse communities of practice, even within different sections of the same course.
At first I was unsure as to the effectiveness of this scheduling loop hole. As I progressed, I saw the leadership, mentorship and educational value as students who were closer to their program completion modeled for the newer students, through their interactions and posts etc. what academic learning in an online environment looks like. As a result, the frame of my collage is unique to my experience and different to my friends and colleagues who took the same courses, but in a different order, at a different time.
